Judgement Awaits

"There never was much hope. Just a fool’s hope."

J.R.R. Tolkien

A Hopeless World

World of Kous, 19th Age, a world on the pinnacle of destruction.

The people's of the world have dwindled, down to a select few. The world's population has waned since the expansion of Sol began, they say only the Elves, Dragons and ancient primordial beings remember a time before the earth could be walked in the light of day.

Now the remaining cling to the subtle respite of night. Most have accepted that there isn't much time left, some fight against impending doom, and others foolishly question the legitimacy of the apocalypse.

A group of like-minded adventurers have found each other in this desolate place. They cling to what little hope remains in the endless desolate deserts that engulf the world, believing Kous can be restored to its former glory and perhaps even be saved.

However, there are forces at work that wish to hasten the heat death of our world. They claim this is part of the natural order, and all worlds must eventually face absolution.

Is it just a matter of time, or is there a chance?

Erimos

The continent of Erimos, once the highest peaks of the world, is now the only remaining landmass on a dying ocean world.

What remains of the on the landmass is sprawling sandy deserts, stony mesa's, and forgotten dead forests.

Civilisations

  • Frouros: Once the Astali dynasty, recently Annexed by The Solar Sentinels lead by the fearsome Grimgor Solhammer. The citizens brainwashed by the Sunfire Pendant were Helpless to resist.
  • Arkos Polis: The city of spires within the Peaks of Fidi. After conquering the Glory Dome, our heroes convinced the citizens here to cast aside the Sunfire Pendants gifted to them by the Solar Sentinels. Now the city's people now fight in anarchy and chaos against eachother and the forces of light.
  • Chelona: The peaceful home of the Tortles. The Great Pyramid of Iremia rests here. Some say when our heroes visited the Pyramid, it lifted a few feet from the ground before settling back into place.

Mount Kragnor

As our heroes look to the horizon, the earth beneath them trembles and toxic fumes billow high from Mount Kragnor in the south.

Something Ancient may be stirring beneath the ancient mountain.

Major Known Locations

  • Frouros

Frouros a sprawling, ancient stone city sits in a vast desert under a giant, glowing golden sun.- Ashes the Campaign

Frouros lies within the heart of Erimos, Once, it was known as the Jewel of the Desert.

Surrounded by vast sandy deserts, Frouros often endures fearsome sandstorms. However the Frouren Elves who reside here have protected their home from the harsh elements of the landscape for thousands of years.

Frouros was once ruled by High Elf Jerek Sidero, one of the few remaining Prota-Elves. Legends say his wisdom and foresight first led the Frouron Elves to relocate to the mountaintops before the great floods engulgfed the lands below and claimed them beneath the sea.

In the present day, Frouros is a shell of it's former glory, it is unclear what became of the remaining citizens after the city was consumed by the mind controling light of the Solar Sentinels.

What is certain is that that High Elf Jerek was slain by Grimgor Solhammer during the annexation of Frouros.

  • Arkon Polis

Arkon Polis, a detailed stone fortress glows under a vast, star-filled night sky, surrounded by a circular defensive wall - Ashes the Campaign

Arkon Polis, translates as The City of Spires, is nestled deep within the Peaks of Fidi It is home to many different peoples and is governed by an esteemed council representing the five families of nobility.

    • Astali
    • Dravish
    • Garavan
    • Renar
    • Lumas

An industrious city, Arkon Polis is primarily run by what remains of humanity, the last major human civilisation in the world. However, people of many civilised races reside here especially since the beginning of the 19th age when the availability of land dwindled and populations across the globe began to collapse.

A clear economic devide exists within the city. Within the slums live the poorest folk alongside the enslaved Orcish population.

A drug known as Silk is peddled among the poor, perhaps as a method of control, or perhaps just to numb them.

Corruption runs deep within the walls of Arkon Polis, and it was only a matter of time before tensions boiled over. Grimgor Solhammer was welcomed and funded the annual Glorydome tournement.

Curses be Damned valiently fought their way through the ranks to win the tournement. In doing so they exposed Grimgor Solhammer's true intentions to the people of Arkon Polis.

Grimgor attempted to brainwash the population in the same fasion as Frouros, this time however, the heroes reached the masses in time and incited a riot against the Solar Sentinels.

Unfortunately, Grimgor's promises of glory resonated with the Orcish slaves who dream of a better future.

Curses be Damned left the scity in a state of Riot, looking towards Mt Kragnor.

  • Chelona

Chelona a large pyramid towers over a coastal village of stone houses at sunset, under a sky filled with twinkling stars - Ashes the Campaign

Chelona, home of the few remaining Tortle's of the world. This idealic town is known for it's hospitality, love of fishing and laid back nature.

The Chelonian Tortle's live long lives, that seem dwarfed by the Elven civilisations that remain.

The ocean breeze keeps the town relatively cool, especially when compared to the inner desert of Erimos.

Travellers often come to Chelona in hopes of visiting the Korali Market, a vibrant hub of free commerce in Erimos. Others come to visit the Botanical Gardens.

To the outskirts of the town ones gaze is immediately drawn to the Pyramid of Iremia. The Chelonian peope do not know who originally built this enormous structure, they are however happy to live within the protective shadow of the pyramid.

Whispers speak of the first Tortle's who claimed this land as home during the inital floods. They're spirits feeling almost drawn to calming peace of the oceanside and the calming nature of the Pyramid.

Lady Hilda's chosen heroes ventured into the pyramid, and found horrors and curses beyond their wildest dreams. Some say the Pyramid even lifted slightly off the ground that day.

  • The Sunspire Bastion

The Sunspire Bastion, a sprawling stone fortress perched on a rocky hill under a vast, star-filled night sky at twilight - Ashes the Campaign

The Sunspire Bastions is known to Curses be Damned as a base of operations for Grimgor Solhammer and the Solar Sentinels.

This temple looks to have withstood the test of time. Scholars are unsure when it was built however they often make reference of the glorius crystal dome atop the temple.

This dome allows the light of sol to shine through to the cathedral below. Considering the Solar Sentinels are devoted to the worship of Sol, it is theorised that the sunlight shining through is a key part of their religion.

The Sunspire Bastion is heavily guarded, however, they visitors are allowed entry under strict supervision.

  • Mt Kragnor

Mt Kragnor, a towering, craggy volcano erupts beneath a dark, stormy sky, framed by a glowing orange ring above stone fortress gates - Ashes the Campaign

Mt Kragnor the tallest peak in Erimos. This active volcano often rains toxic ash to the surrounding land.

The inside of the mountain is sealed off from the outside world. Ancient texts have documented the Astiros Dwarves who secretly work beneath the mountain, digging for, refining and creating artifacts with a rare mineral from within the mountain.

The entrance to Mt Kragnor is a feat of construction, two enormous statue's of ancient dwarven construction block the stand as sentinels defending the passage way.

Mt Kragnor has stood firm since many ages past. Legends write of a powerful and ancient shadowed presence that lays within the mountain.
